HAWKE’S BAY’S FINE SHIELD RECORD
HAWKE’S Bay’s post-war Rugby record does not compare with those of Waikato, Canterbury, and Otago, but the team remains the most successful of those which have competea for the Ranfurly Shield. Hawke’s Bay holds the greatest sequence of successes—2s between 1922 and 1927—and it has won a higher percentage of its shield games than any other province. Canterbury, meeting Hawke’s Bay at Lancaster Park today, is approaching both these records, and it has one of its own—-the largest number of shield successes, 43. If Canterbury wins today, it will be its twentieth consecutive success in Ranfurly bhieia games. The full list of results of the teams which have played in shield games is as follows:
