crated planes brought FROM LYTTELTON When the third of the eases containing a de Havilland Otter aircraft from the United States cargo ship Pioneer Glen was being towed on a trailer up the Lyttelton-Sumner road yesterday afternoon, a passing car was damaged. The mishap occurred near Windy Rock corner. The car driven by Mrs M. E. J. Piat, of Clifton, Sumner, struck a corner of the case. The hood was crushed and the windscreen broken A passenger, Mrs B. McKay, of Clifton, suffered from shock, but after being treated by Dr. P. A. M. Heath at his surgery, was able to go home. The car was driven back to Sumner. The three cases were lifted from the ship by the craneship Rapaki and were escorted to Harewood by traffic officers.
