NEW PSYCHOLOGY LECTURER

DR. HUBERT SAMPSON, OF TORONTO

Dr. Hubert Sampson, at present research psychologist in the Defence Research Medical Laboratories at Toronto, Canada, has been appointed lecturer in psychology at Canterbury University College in succession to Mr R. L. Reid, who left early this year to take up a new appointment in England. Dr. Sampson will arrive in November. Wide experience in Canada has been gained by Dr. Sampson. After taking his master of arts degree at the University of British Columbia in 1951, he was awarded a doctorate in philosophy at McGill University, Montreal, in 1954. At McGill he did research under Dr. B. Bindra in th<_ department where Dr. T. H. Scott, senior lecturer in psychology at Canterbury College, spent refresher leave and received his own doctorate. There Dr. Sampson specialised in comparative and physiological psychology, and also personality theory. Dr. Sampson has had lecturing appointments at the University of British Columbia and the University of Alberta.
