BRITISH WOOL CLIP
(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, August 21. The British Wool Marketing Board said in its annual report today that the United. Kingdom wool clip in 1955 was in some respects disappointing. The board said that in spite of the slightly higher number of sheep shorn and fewer slaughterings, the clip amounted to only 67,200,0001 b weight, a decrease of 5.300.0001 b weight, or 7.3 per cent, on 1954. The reduction was largely due to lower average fleece weights caused by poor grazing conditions in the spring of 1955. . , The' board said that British wool had not escaped the general downwards tendency in world prices during the year but nevertheless had again sold better than its overseas equivalent.
