Japan’s Trade With Egypt
(Rec. 10 p.m.) TOKYO, August 21. The Japanese Ministry of Trade announced in its official bulletin today that it would permit the application of deferred payment to the exports of Japanese goods to Egypt, except newsprint and iron and steel. The Ministry said the decision had been made because of the change in the situation as the result of the Suez Canal dispute. Trade sources said this meant that Japan was trying to promote exports to Egypt by way of a clearing account, taking advantage of Egypt’s difficulty in importing goods from the sterling area.
