Miner Saved by Amputation.— A miner trapped under two tons of rock at an emerald mine at Salvo, near Nelson, in British Columbia, persuaded his fellow workers to amputate his already mutilated arm with a pocket knife so he could escape. This they did, and his condition in hospital today was reported “satisfactory.” He also suffered a fractured leg.—Nelson (British Columbia), August 15. <0
