NORTH CANTERBURY POWER CUTS

Sir,—With interest and admiration for my own sex, I have read the correspondence on our long power cuts, originating, it would seem, from pure sadism and arbitrary control. And with fury I have read the answers of Mr Metherell. “What’s good for one is good for all, and what’s good for all is good for one,” is rather apt on this annoying subject. We only want the same power and cuts as our town and other country sisters, and if Mr Metherell’s board cannot make it pay, well, we should put someone in who can. I have always maintained that on any committee, church, school, government, or otherwise, a women’s representation should be included just to keep the feminine points of view be- • fore the all-powerful male.—Yours, • etc., TEPID. i Amberley, August 16, 1956.
