FAST FLIGHT BY U.S. BOMBER

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, August 13. A B-66 twin-jet bomber has flown the 2690 miles from Hawaii to Long Beach. California, at an average speed of more than 600 miles an hour, the United States Air Force announced today. The bomber was returning from participation in the nuclear tests at Eniwetok. The Air Force B-66 is a version of the Navy-desianed A3D. which recently flew from Hawaii to Albuquerque. New Mexico, at an average speed of 570 miles an hour for the 3200 mile distance. The B-66 is considered a light bomber for tactical work by the Air Force.
