LUNCHEON WITH CHURCHILL
Mr And Mrs Holland Guests In London
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 12.
“No engagement during our stay in London has given me and my wife greater pleasure than the private luncheon we had with Sir Winston and Lady Churchill at their London home,” said the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) today. “There were just four of us and we talked for an hour and a half. “I found Sir Winston Churchill in splendid heart, and most interested to learn about New Zealand and other parts of the Commonwealth.
“There is no doubt that this great man has a keen affection for our country, and he was most interested in my comments on its growth and development. “I again pressed Sir Winston and Lady Churchill to pay us a visit, but I am afraid we must bow to the inevitable with feelings of disappointment.
“Sir Winston Churchill asked me to give the people of New Zealand his warmest good wishes and to say that he will ever be mindful of the great part New Zealand played in the successful outcome of two world wars.”
