H-Bomb Tests To Go On Till August

(Rec. 10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 12.

United States officials said today that hydrogen bomb tests in the Pacific were still under way and would probably continue until late August. However, there was no apparent relaxation of the Atomic Energy Commission’s ban on announcing individual tests.

The issue came up after the Japanese Foreign Minister, Mr Mamoru Shigemitsu, said in Tokyo that he had asked the United States whether hydrogen bombs were exploded in the Eniwetok testing area during the last month.

It was recalled that the commission announced on January 12 that the tests would begin in May and continue until some time in late August.
