CHURCH INSURANCE

The importance of having parochial buildings fully insured was emphasised by the Ven. Archdeacon J. R. Young in a report to the Wellington Diocesan Synod. During the year, he said, churches at Bulls and Island Bay had been seriously damaged by fire. The insurance cover on church buildings had increased by £37,500, evidence that church officers were awake to this matter. In his opinion parish buildings were, in many cases, materially underinsured on present-day values. The diocesan insurance board suggested that buildings be revalued and, where necessary, additional insurance obtained. Synod adopted this suggestion.
