HALSWELL RUBBISH COLLECTION
START TO BE MADE TODAY
The collection of rubbish in the Halswell county, for which the Halswell Improvement Society has been working for a year, will begin today. The collection will be made once a week, and persons taking advantage of it will be required to pay 15s a year towards its cost. This was reported at the annual meeting of the society last evening.
The Halswell Domain Board offered to allow the society to build a scout den in its pavilion. The offer was received with approval, and will be investigated further. The society decided to dispense with a full executive committee, and to hold a general meeting every two months. The four executive officers elected will be empowered to act as an emergency committee. Officers elected were: chairman, Mr T. W. C. Tothill; vice-chairman, Mr F. Knipe: secretary. Mrs D. M. Shrimpton; treasurer, Mr G. Sunbeam.
