SALVAGE CLAIM SETTLED

PAYMENT FOR HARBOUR BOARD AND TUG CREW An order was made by Mr Justice Adams, in his Admiralty jurisdiction, in the Supreme Court yesterdav for the payment out of Court of £875. oi which £736 17s 7d is to go to the Lyttelton Harbour Board and £l3B 2s 5d to the master, officers and crew of the tug Lyttelton 11. The order was made by consent and was in settlement of a claim by the Harbour Board and the complement of the tug for salvage services to the motor vessel Holmlea on November 23 and 24. 1954. off Le Bons Bay when the Holmlea dropped her propeller and was drifting. The money had been paid into Court. Mr R. G. Penlington represented the Harbour Board. Mr R. S. D. Twynham the master, officers and crew of the tug, and Mr A. C. Perry the Holmlea and her cargo. Mr Perry said it was unusual to appear before his Honour in his Honour’s Admiralty jurisdiction. The claim was governed by regulations of 1884. “I’m afraid we are sailing in deep water. Mr Perry,” said his Honour. “At least they are not uncharted,” said Mr Perry’.
