ALTERED EXCHANGE RATES The Canadian dollar appreciated a further .5 cents in relation to the £ sterling last week. Sterling also lost ground to the U.S. dollar and several Continental currencies. Altered telegraphic transfer exchange rates, as advised yesterday by the Bank of New South Wales, are as follows: N.Z. on— New York: buying, 2.7920 dollars to £N.Z.I (compared with 2.7939 dollars on July 2); selling, 2.7604 dollars (2.7622). Montreal; 2.7352 dollars (2.7402); 2.6999 dollars (2.7048). Denmark: 10.57 kroner (19.58); 18.89 kroner (18.90). Holland. 10.71 guilders (1J.73); 10.45 guilders (10.47). Norway: 20.22 kroner (20.23); 19.55 kroner (19.56). Sweden: 14.51 kroner (14.a8); 14.18 kroner (14.21). ~ reSwitzerland 12.19 francs (12.20); 11.95 francs (11.96). STOCK SALES PLEASANT POINT "The Press’ Special Service TIMARU, July 9. Twenty-five head of fat cattle met a steady inquiry with values holding firm at the Pleasant Point stock sale today. More than two races of fat sheep opened on a quiet note, but as the sale progressed values improved. However, over aU it was not as buoyant as the Temuka sale a week ago. The sale of store sheep was an extra good one. Values were:— Fat Cattle—Steers: prime, £29 7s 6d to £33 7s 6d; medium. £2l 2s 6d to £26 17s 6d; light, £l6 2s 6d to £l9 7s 6d. Heifers: Prime, £2l 2s 6d to £26 12s 6d; light to medium, £l2 2s 6d to £lB 7s 6d. Fat Sheep—Wethers: Prime, 80s Id to 88s lOd; medium, 76s Id to 79s Id; light, 6«s lOd to 72s 4d. Ewes: Prime. 59s Id to 63s Id; medium, 45s lOd to 54s Id; light. 25s to 31s lOd.
