TRAP SHOOTING
ELLESMERE BEATEN BY METHVEN
By a margin of one point Methven Gun Club defeated the Ellesmere Club in the annual teams’ match for the Methven Cup. fired on the Ellesmere club's grounds at Leeston. The teams were of 19 men a side, each shooter firing at 15 clay birds. The shooting was below the usual standard, the scores being Methven 225, Ellesmere 224.
J. A. Dalton, A. A. Greenwood, W. L. Gabbie. and F. L. Graham scored the only possibles and divided the sweep money.
Possibles in an eye-opener match, with 37 nominations, were scored by D. Dalton, H. J. Harrison, J. A. Dalton, G. M. Scott. E. Hammond, S. G. Holmes, D. J. Harrison. R. T. Wade, C. C. Skinner, W. L. Donald. G. Nairn, W. Quigley, L. C. Lemon, G. M. Doyle, and W. A. Anderson.
Trophies for a 15-bird match were given by Messrs D. Harrison and J. F. Parkin, the presidents of the Methven and Ellesmere clubs respectively. G. M. Scott and S. G. Holmes gained the only two possibles, Holmes winning the shootoff and taking the first trophy and Scott the second. They both shared first and second money in the sweep, the following. each one down, taking the balance: E. G. Amyes, D. Dalton, J. A. Dalton, W. H. Winchester, T. D. Harrison, G. M. Doyle. F. L. Graham, D. S. Harrison, and H. A. Cromie.
The aU-ons in a 10-bird sweepstake were C. C. Skinner. -W. J. Winchester, D. Dalton, F. Dickson. L. C. Anderson. B. Lilley, A. A. Greenwood, W. A. Anderson. and D. S. Harrison.
In another 10-bird sweep possibles were scored by J. F. Parkin, R. G. Allan. W. L. Gabbie, G. M. Doyle, and F. L. Graham.
E. G. Amyes, D. Lilley, W. L. Gabbie, and J. Heslop were top scorer in another 10 target event.
Shooting ended with a first-miss-out, F. L. Graham winning at the ninth round. Messrs R. G. Allan and E. G. Amyes were the referees.
