Confidence Votes In French Assembly
PARIS. June 23. The French Prime Minister. Mr Guy Mollet, today again staked the life of his government on two Budget votes. In an all-night debate, he asked the National Assembly for two votes of confidence. One was on a clause empowering the government to tax road transport to enable French railways to meet competition. The second was on the £162 million supplementary budget as a whole. Both votes will be taken next Tuesday. Mr Mollet is not expected to have any difficulty in obtaining the necessary majority in both issues. Comer Remanded. Razor-scarred Jack (“Spot”) Comer, the 44-year-old bookmaker, was remanded in
custody today until next Friday on a charge of causing grievojs bodily harm to Thomas Joseph I’alco, another bookmaker, also aged 44. Wher charged Comer had said: “Not guilty It is a deliberate frame-up.”—Lon-don, June 22.'
