IMPURITIES IN CREAM

INFORMATION DISMISSED (New Zealand Press Association) GREYMOUTH, June 21. Charged in the Magistrate's Court at Greymouth yesterday with supplying cream in an unclean bottle. Riversdale Dairy Supplies, Ltd., (Mr W. D. Taylor), raised the defence that there was no evidence to show that the bottle had been dirty when filled. Mr Taylor suggested that the impurity could have been in the cream when it was poured into the bottle. Both prospects were) equally reprehensible, said Mr Raymond Ferner. S.M., but there was not the e’ear proof that the bottle was dirty when filled such as the Court required to have in a case as serious as this. He dismissed the information. Giving evidence for the prosecution Mr J. B. Snoad, Senior Inspector of Health, said that on January 29 he took possession of a bottle of cream which had two major marks inside the bottle as well as small dirty specks in the cream. The company’s manager did not deny that the bottle was that of the company. The washing machine at the factory was suitable for removing milk, but unsatisfactory for foreign matter. Mr Taylor said it was impossible to say whether the impurities in the cream had been there in the bottle at the time it had been filled.
