Mrs N. C. Clanp. the retiring magazine secretary of the Canterbury Provincial Committee of the League of Mothers, was presented with a cup. saucer, and plate and flowers at the annual meeting of f he committee yesterday. in appreciation of her service for the last six years. The presentation was by Mrs W. Grant, retiring president.
Mrs H. Wales has been re-elected vice-president of the Christchurch A ged People’s Welfare Council. Mrs Wales represents the Good Neighbour Service of the Red Cross Society on the council. A pleasant social evening for visit ing Friesian breeders and their wives, who were the guests of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Fries : an Association, was held at the National Club in Chri«sfnhurch on Wednesday evening. Tn addition to musical items and dancing, the large attendance was entertained with newsreels of interest to Friesian breeders, and with slides showing various aspects of dairy cattle breeding in Ja’-an. These latter were shown by Mr E. W. Kin? (Takaka), who recently visited Japan on stud stock business. At the end of the evening, Mr F. Fiecken (Tai Tapu) spoke on behalf o f the Canterbury branch of the assomation, and Mr A. W. (Auckland) r®n]ied on behalf of North Island visitors Appreciation of the good work of t.bn Canterbury n’-ov’ncial secretary. Mr J.
