MCWHIRTER CANCER TREATMENT
USE AT CHRISTCHURCH CLINIC Although the McWhirter technique for the treatment of certain cases of cancer was “still controversial,” the Christchurch consultation clinic was continuing to use it, said the chairman of the clinic (Mr J. K. Davidson) in a report to the annual meeting yesterday of the Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson and Westland division of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society. “I think we are the only hospital in New Zealand to use it, and we may be proved wrong,” Mr Davidson said. “There is a lot of controversy about this technique, and it is with open eyes that we have decided to use it.”
