GERMAN MIGRANTS FOR N.Z.
“NO REAL PROGRESS IN ' SELECTION ” (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 19. No real progress had been made in the selection of German migrants for New Zealand, the Returned Services’ Association representative on the Immigration Advisory Council (Mr K. W. Fraser) informed the annual Dominion conference of the R.S.A. in Wellington today. He said the West German Government had indicated its unwillingness to agree to financal assistance of German tradesmen desiring to emigrate. Last year, the New Zealand Government agreed to take a quota of 10 Maltese as an experiment, Mr Fraser said. Although applications had been sought in the usual way. there had been practically no response so far. The Danish Government had now given its approval to a limited selection of unmarried men and women from Denmark.
