PIPING AND DANCING ACADEMY
MRS J. PATON APPOINTED N.Z. SECRETARY Mrs Jean Paton, of Papanui, was appointed secretary of the New Zealand Academy of Piping and National Dancing at an executive meeting held in Wellington on Saturday. Highland and national dancing in New Zealand were discussed, and preparations were made for the forthcoming theory and practical dancing examinations to be conducted throughout New Zealand from July. To cope with the large entries, three examiners will be necessary. Those appointed are:—North Island: Mesdames E. Woolier and D. Horrell. South Island: Mrs Colleen Parker (Gisborne).
Members paid tribute to the years of service given by the retiring sec retary, Mrs Alma Oliver (Auckland) Miss Betty Carnochan presented Mrs Oliver with a cameo brooch, a gifl from members of the technical com mittee, the executive council and liaison officers of the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand
