RESULTS OF FOURTH ROUND In the fourth round of the Canterbury Table Tennis Association’s A grade competitions there was another series of comfortable wins for the leading teams. The only close match was between North Beach and Christchurch, in which the former team had a narrow win. though R. W. R. Mercer and Miss P. M. Quinn played well for the losers. In the match between University and Selwyn 111, D. D. M. Stewart won all his matches for University.
After four rounds, the position of the teams is as follows:—Selwyn I 8, Eagles 8, University 6, North Beach 6, High School Old Boys 6. Panthers 4, Linwood 4, Papanui 2, Christchurch 2, Selwyn II 0, Wharenui 0. Selwyn 111 0. Selwyn 111 and Christchurch have one game still to play from the first round. Results:— Selwyn I v. Panthers.—V. N. Brightwell beat M. A. Cox, 21-15, 21-3; beat Mrs J. Prisk 21-8, 21-12; beat R. Prisk by default. T. R. D. Flint beat Cox. 21-13. 21-12: beat Mrs Prisk, 21-15, 21-10; beat Prisk by default. P. S. Alexander beat Cox, 21-16, 21-10;' beat Mrs Prisk. 23-25, 21-8, 21-14. Brightwell and Flint beat Cox and Mrs Prisk, 21-15, 21-7. Brightwell and Alexander beat Cox and Prisk, 21-9, 21-8. Flint and Alexander beat Mrs Prisk and Prisk, 21-18, 21-18. Selwyn I won by 12 matches to 0.
University v. Selwyn lII.—D. D. M. Stewart beat R. T. Oakley, 21-17, 21-16; beat J. M. Gillard. 21-15, 21-10; beat W. Raddon, 21-14, 21-13. J. A. Dowie beat Oakley. 19-21, 23-21, 21-19; beat Gillard, 21-16, 21-11; lost to Raddon, 21-12, 16-21, 16-21. A. Armstrong beat Swanston, 21-12, 21-17; beat Clark, 21-14, 21-0; beat Staples. 21-11, 21-19. Miss A. Rowe beat Swanston, 21-17, 19-21, 21-19-lost to Clark, 17-21, 15-21; lost to Staples, 6-21, 16-21. Miss Williamson and Armstrong beat Swanston and Clark, 21-14, 21-13. Miss Williamson and Miss Rowe beat Swanston and Staples, 21-18, 21-17.
