THE CITY BUILT ON A SWAMP.
The selection of the city site for Christchurch involved unusual problems not foreseen by the early pioneers. Not the least of these problems was adequate drainage and sewerage for a metropolitan centre of the current magnitude of the City. Public health was a factor too readily overlooked, and particular and urgeni problems noW are raised for the attention of the Christchurch Drainage Board. Much has »been accomplished in the past to carry out essential works to meet the demands of the ever-ex-panding city, but the Board urgently requires funds, and the mam source of obtaining these moneys is through the current Debenture offer This is a sound, practical business proposition of interest to large and small investors Debentures are available in multiples of £lOO and bear per cent, interest Make inquiries direct from the Board’s Office, 198 Hereford street, or from your bank manager or stockbroker. —Advt.
