BRITISH-SOVIET RELATIONS
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
TO QUEEN

Russia’s President (Marshal K. Y. Voroshilov) told Queen Elizabeth in a birthday message that the Soviet leaders’ talks with her and British Ministers had marked an improvement of relations between Russia and Britain.
Moscow Radio broadcast) Marshal Voroshilov’s greetings in its home service news bulletin today. The Soviet Prime Minister (Marshal N. A. Bulganin) and the Communist Party Secretary (Mr Nikita Khrushchev) met the Queen during their British visit in April. Marshal Voroshilov’s''message said: “I express the hope that the relations between our two countries will develop in a spirit of mutual understanding and co-operation, in the interest of the peoples of both countries and of the consolidation of peace in the entire world.”
The Queen’s reply, also broadcast by the radio in Russian, said: “I was happy to meet Mr Bulganin and Mr Khrushchev during their recent visit to Great Britain.
“I fully share the friendly feelings which you expressed about the development of relations between bur two countries.”
