KELBRA BOLTS AT WINGATUI

RACING

HOOD SHIFTS DURING SCHOOLING “The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN. May 1. After his hood had shifted, Kelbra raced blindly round the track for two and a half circuits at Wingatui this morning. The Pherozshah gelding had cleared three steeplechase fences well. He dropped his rider. E. Sutherland, when he attempted to run off at the post and rails at the five furlongs. Kelbra fell on the flat at the end of another furlong, and then began a wild gallop. The grey gelding galloped very close to a new fence line on the inside of the course, and if he had put a leg in one of the open post holes he would have been seriously injured. Kelbra crashed through the running rail on the plough before returning to the stalls. Except for being distressed after his run, he appeared none the worse for it.
