INTER-SERVICES SPORTS

AIR FORCE COMPETITORS FROM CHRISTCHURCH A team of 13 servicemen ' from the Royal New Zealand Air Force stations at Wigram and Weedons left Christchurch last evening for Auckland to take part in the inter-services summer tourney there this week-end. The team includes K. Williams, who ran second in the national three-miles title race in Christchurch last week. Williams is entered in the mile and three-mile events. J. Martin, New Zealand 220 yards hurdles champion, will compete in the 100 yards and 220 yards. D. J. Stewart and E. W. Young will represent the Air Force in both the high and broad jumps. L. C. Richardson, of Weedons, will run f °r the Air Force in the 120 yards hurdles. The only woman from Christchurch in the team is Miss B. Baird, of Wigram. She will compete in the women's broad jump. Wigram representatives will compete also m swimming, water polo, and cricket. P. Campbell will race in the quartermile and half-mile freestyle events. In the latter race he will be accompanied by P. Hewett. R. Burton will compete in the 100 yards breaststroke, and D P Rodenburg and K. Hayne will be in the water polo team. Two Wigram cricketers taking part in the tourney are S. M. Cameron and J. Karauria.
