RESERVE BANK RETURN
The Reserve Bank’s holdings of ■ Treasury bills fell £8.000,000 in the week ended March 14. Investments in New Zealand declined by this amount, overseas investments remaining at £27.9 million. The last substantial change in the bank’s investments in New Zealand, was in the wee’: ended December 21, when they showed an increase of £8 million. The bank’s demand liabilities continued to show the seasonal movements occasioned by the payment of income tex. Last year deposits by the State in accounts other than marketing rose £33 million between February 9 and March 23. This year they have risen £26 million since January 25. Trading banks’ deposits, which fell £3B million in the same period last year, have so far fallen £32 million. Comparative weekly returns are as follows:
