MELBOURNE Investments were moderately active at steady to firm prices. Rises exceeded falls but few variations exceeded 3d. Mining turnover dropped slightly, although most prices tended to firm. Woodside provided an exception. The old shares dropped 4d. after sales down to 5s lid. The market closed at 7s 9d. Santos failed to respond to the report of oil traces. Other mining was quiet.
