NORTH BEACH CARNIVAL
G. H. MCFADDEN TIMED AT 59SEC FOR 100 YD
Best performances at the North Beach Swimming Club’s carnival on Saturday afternoon were given by two brothers, Graham and Colin McFadden. In spite of cool weather and bitterly cold water in the pool, both swimmers recorded times close to the minute for the open 100 yards freestyle. The race was a handicap. Gr ,aham McFadden, who is aged 17, and is the present national 440 vards backstroke champion, won the fifth heat of the event in 59sec. The third heat was *°,P by c °lin McFadden, aged 15, in 63.35ec.
