N.S.W. LABOUR MAJORITY
DECREASE OF 12 IN FINAL RESULT (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, March 13. The Labour Party’s over-all majority in the New South Wales State Legislature has been cut from 18 to six. This is shown by the final results in the election of March 3. Labour yesterday won the last two doubtful seats, giving them a total of 50 —six less than in the last House. They also have the support of one independent member. The Liberals, the Country Party, and one other independent member mustered 44 seats. Labour has been in power in New South Wales for the last 15 years—since 1952 under the Premiership of Mr J. J. Cahill. The final state of the parties is: Labour 50 (56 in the last House); Liberal, 27 (22); Country Party, 15 (14); Independents, 2 (2).
