Share Prices Easier Yesterday i Prices generally were easier on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday. Fletchers, in their first local business for. three weeks, lost Is to sell at 395. Broken Hill Proprietary were ’ 3d lower at 32s 3d, Woolworths 2d lower at 15s 6d, Coles 2d; lower at 13s fid, Hauraki Whaling 3d lower at 4s 3d, Hays 3d! lower at 24s fid and Colonial Sugar 25s 6d lower at £3l 17s fid. | Ballins Breweries, which have been improving on quotation since their last Christchurch business two weeks ago at 275, had buvers at 27s 9d. C.B.A. were fractionallv firmer in a sale at 13s lid. C. and A. Odlin rights were quoted for the first time yesterday, when a wide margin between buyers’ and sellers’ ideas of their value were apparent. Buyers offered 9s, but sellers asked 15s.

SMITHFIELD MEAT MARKET CHILLED BEEF WEAK, LAMB IMPROVING Supplies of chilled beef exceeded requirements on a falling market at Smithfield last week, according to cabled advice received from the London office of the New Zealand Meat • Producers’ Board. Forequarters were i weak. In spite of further price reductions, sales of frozen beef showed little improvement. Demand for frozen lamb was slowly improving, with values barely steady. Frozen mutton was in quiet'demand at unchanged rates. ' Pork was in moderate demand and there was little change in values. Prices for New Zealand meat (ex store. London, for frozen meat, delivered to Smithfield for chilled beef) in the week ended March 9. with the variation since • the previous week, were as follows: —
