WOMEN’S BRANCH OF LABOUR PARTY
ANNUAL MEETING The twenty-second report of the Christchurch women’s branch of the New Zealand Labour Party, presented at the annual meeting of the branch, said that the enrolment of new members was the highest for many years. The success of the year’s work was attributed to the enthusiastic support given by members, the public and business firms. The following officers were elected: president, the Mayoress (Mrs R. M. Macfarlane): vice-president, Mrs M Trevella); secretary-treasurer, Mrs E. Tongue; executive, Mesdames M. Boot, A. Underhay, M. Larsen, M. Bennett, C. Jones, and T. Buckett; delegates to the Labour Representation Committee, Miss M. B. Howard, M.P., and Mrs Tongue; delegate to the New Zealand Labour Party conference. Mrs Tongue: delegate to the Save the Children Fund committee. Mrs G. Boyd. Offers of help to increase the activities of the branch during the coming year were received with thanks.
