CALDER, Convener. - 3370 CHRISTADELPHIAN LECTURE. BIBLE HALL, z Madras street, near Tuam street, SUNDAY, 6.30 P.M. (God willing). Subject: WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED? JESUS ANSWERS A LAWYER. The generally accepted belief that all that is required is “to only believe” and thou shalt be saved, as Jesus said on one occasion. John 3.36. “He that believeth in the Son of God hath Eternal Life.” That such an idea as this was far from the teaching of Christ is readily seen by the merest glance at other portions of Scripture, which plainly show that many other things are necessary to obtain a good report and a place in the Kingdom of God. Amongst them are the following:— Baptism.—He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved. —Mark 16:16, John 3:5. Meekness.—Blessed are the meek: they shall inherit the earth.—Matt 5:5. Holiness.—Follow peace—and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. —Heb. 12:14. Obedience to God.—Not everyone that saith Lord. Lord, shall enter the Kingdom; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in Heaven.—Matt. 7:21. There are other things also involved in inheriting Eternal Life, and God willing this will be explained in the above address.
