British Troops In Korea Thanked
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, March 8. Sir Walter Monckton, the Minister of Defence, yesterday thanked all ranks of the Commonwealth forces in Korea for their “splendid contribution” towards the maintenance of peace in that country. In a message to Lieutenant-General Rudolph Bierwirth, the Australian commander-in-chief of the Commonwealth forces, he added: “Your achievements have been a striking example of co-operation within the Commonwealth* and have
demonstrated to the world that it represents a strong and stable factor for peace and goodwill. “You have further proved the readiness and ability of the Commonwealth to take its place in the front of the forces of the United Nations in the cause of freedom.”
