BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS G. MCFADD? N BREAKS TWO RECORDS G. H. McFadden, the present Canterbury backstroke champion and national titleholder for the quarter-mile, won the senior championship for the Hollander Cup at the Christchurch Boys' High School swimming sports yesterday. In doing so he broke the school records for the 440 yards freestyle and the 100 yards backstroke. McFadden’s time for the 440 yards was smin 27 4-ssec, l-ssec under the previous record of smin 28sec. His time of 69sec for the 100 yards backstroke clipped 2-ssec off the old record of 69 2-ssec.

Five other records were broken. B. Robertson, the intermediate champion, set a new record of 17 2-ssec for the intermediate 33 1-3 yards freestyle, and the junior champion, D. Eaton, broke records for both the 66 2-3 yards breaststroke and the 33 1-3 yards freestyle in his section. E. Brittenden swam the intermediate 100 yards breaststroke in the fast time of 77 3-ssec to reduce the record for that race by 1 3-ssec. The previous record was 79 l-ssec. A. McPhail, runnerup for the junior championship, clipped 1 4-ssec off the old record of 64 2-ssec for the junior 100 yards freestyle with a time of 62 3-ssec. MORE RECORDS BROKEN (New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS, March 7. More records were broken when tne Australian swimmers, Jon Henricks ana Murray Rose, appeared in Hastings lasi night. In the 100 yards butterfly, Henricks swam the distance in 62.25ec, breaking by 3sec the record held by J. Shanahan. Auckland. Henrick’s time for the 100 yards freestyle was 52.25ec, o.6sec outside the figure he set in Napier the previous night.
