EXAMINATION OF BLACK RATS
NO PLAGUE GERMS FOUND
Scientists yesterday found that five black rats of the bubonic plaguecarrying type did not carry the plague or harbour any plague-carrying fleas. The examinations were made in the laboratories of Christchurch Public Hospital. A man discovered the black rats in cases of tractor parts at Ashburton. The cases had come direct from England.
