SPEEDWAY SUSPENSION
S’ r - —Being a keen speedway supporter, I would like to ask the club captain of the Aranui Midget Car Drivers’ Club. Mr W. Evans, when the suspension of the midget car driver. Jiggs Alexander, is to be withdrawn. Will this suspension prevent Jiggs Alexander from driving in the forthcoming British Empire midget car championships to be held at the Aranui stadium?—Yours, etc., SPEEDWAY SUPPORTER. February 28, 1956. [Jiggs Alexander had been suspended for the whole of the season and so would not be eligible to take part in any championship or other events, said the president of the Aranui Midget Car Drivers’ Club (Mr T. Hall) when' this letter was referred to him. The British Empire midget car championships had been cancelled because of the Australian waterfront strike, but it was planned to hold a New Zealand championship instead. Mr Evans was not available for comment.]
