NORTH CANTERBURY RED CROSS

QUARTERLY MEETING OF DELEGATES Fifty sub-centres were represented at the quarterly meeting of delegates to the North Canterbury centre of the Red Cross Society, yesterday morning. Mrs J. G. L. Vernon welcomed delegates, and Mr A. E. Kincaid (chairman) gave a progress report of alterations and additions to the society’s new premises at 33 Cashel street. The cost of altering the ground floor, which would comrrise offices, packing room, and depot, would be £697 4s 6d, and the kitchen block would cost £3530 13s. The hall would not be erected until the society was in occupation. It was hoped the society would be able to occupy the premises within the next few months. Mrs Leonard Coop was appointed convener of country sub-centres. The St. Albans sub-centre appealed for old felt hats, particularly pastel shades and white ones for making into toys.
