ADDINGTON MARKET

Biggest Entry Of Season LAMBS SHOW EASIER TREND Nearly 32,000 store sheep came before buyers at Addington market yesterday. It was easily the largest yarding of the season. than 20,000 lambs on offer the market displayed an easing tendency, in particular for the lighter and plainer lambs which predominated in the selection, but all classes of ewes, which were yarded in much larger numbers than at any previous sale this season, were in good demand at better rates. The yarding totalled 31,853 head, compared with 23,500 last week. It included 20,950 lambs, almost all wether lambs, 2872 two-tooth ewes, 7708 older ewes, and 317 wethers. Selling of the massive lamb yarding went on for nearly six hours. In the large selection lighter and plainer lambs naturally predominated and with dry conditions again prevailing in many districts this class showed an easing tendency of from 2s Cd to 4s a head. The sale did. however, show an erratic tendency. Best lambs continued to sell at about late rates, though even for this class there may have also been a slight easing trend. At ruling rates, however, there was a good clearance of the bulk of the offering. >

Top price was 56s 6d paid for 94 out of a big line of Southdown cross from W. H. Faulkner (Kowai Bush). The pick of the wether lambs realised from 50s to 555, good 42s to 495, average 32s to 395, and light and culls 14s to 30s.
