RUGBY FOOTBALL

JOHN SOLOMON NOT FIT THIS YEAR CAMERON MAY CAPTAIN AUSTRALIA (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 15. Australia’s Rugby captain, John Solomon, appears certain to miss the Springbok test series, the Sydney “Daily Telegraph’’ Rugby writer, Phil Tresidder, said’ -today. * Solomon, a resident doctor at Prince Alfred Hospital, has recently had hepatitis, and now faces a long convalescence. His absence would make it necessary for the Australian selectors to select a new captain against the Springboks. Alan Cameron, who was vice-captain of the Australian team in New Zealand last year, might be their choice, Tressider says Cameron showed outstanding captaincy qualities on the tour. He gave an inspiring display in the third test when the Australians beat New Zealand at Auckland. Solomon has also had to withdraw from the Australian Universities team to tour Japan. •
