Situation:— An anti-cyclone covers southern New Zealand, and a tropical depression near Norfolk Island is moving southwards. Forecast:— Nelson, Marlborough, and the West Coast.—Light to moderate variable winds; weather cloudy to overcast and warm. Canterbury.—Fresh north-easterlies about the coast; light winds inland; fair weather; warm temperatures. Outlook: some rain likely later. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and sunny, with a moderate easterly wind. The maximum temperature was 67.5 degrees. At midnight the sky was cloudy, and an 11-knot east-north-east wind was blowing. The temperature was 59 degrees. The barometer, at 30.09 inches (1018.1 millibars) was falling. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 1 a.m.: nil. Meteorological observations taken at the Magnetic Survey. Christchurch, yesterday :
