OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, January 26. The veather forecast, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 27 hours after the time of issue, is:— Situation:— A ridge of high pressure extends on to northern New Zealand from the East, and a trough of low pressure lies over the Tasman Sea. A diffuse frontal zone lies over North Westland and Mid-Canterbury. Forecast:— Canterbury.— North-east to east winds predominating, fresh at times on the coast; weather cloudy and humid, with periods of rain; moderate temperatures; outlook, showery weather. Nelson.—Moderate to fresh norths to north-west winds; weather cloudy, humid, and warm, with periods of rain or drizzle; outlook, showery weather. Marlborough.—North-west winds, moderate to fresh; some scattered light rain, but weather mainly cloudy, warm, and humid; outlook, showery weather. West Coast.—Moderate to fresh northerly winds weather overcast, with rain; some heavy falls likely, especially in North Westland; moderate temperatures; outlook, showery weather.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday Was cloudy, with showers and a verv light north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 64.6 degrees. At midnight the sky was cloudy and a nine-knot south-west wind was blowing. The temperature was 62 degrees. The barometer, at 29.78 inches (1008.6 millibars), was rising unsteadily.
