MULTI-FLOOR PARKING

AUCKLAND BUILDING PROPOSAL “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, January 26. The Auckland City Council has asked business firms in Queen street and nearby to underwrite a £170,000 loan it will raise to build a multifloor parking building in Britomart place. Because loan money was scarce, said the Mayor (Mr J. H. Luxford), the City Council did not want to sign a building contract until it was assured that finance was available. Business houses in the area would benefit from the building and so the Queen Street Businessmen’s Association had been asked if the business community could give some guarantee that the loan money could be found as needed. The association and others interested will meet soon to discuss the proposal.
