POLIOMYELITIS OUTBREAK
FURTHER CASE IN CHRISTCHURCH A young girl, diagnosed as a positive case of poliomyelitis, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital yesterday. Since the beginning of last August, 27 positive poliomyelitis patients have been admitted to the hospital. One suspect is in hospital at present. The case reported yesterday was from the Christchurch area.
FIRST DEATH IN NORTHLAND
(New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI, January 26. The first death in Northland from poliomyelitis this summer has occurred. The patient was a woman, aged 32, whose case was notified on Monday. Since the outbreak began 12 cases have been reported in Northland.
NAPIER CASE
(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER. January 26. A positive case of poliomyelitis has been reported to the Health Department in Napier. The patient is an 18-year-old woman from Hastings.
