“The Press’’ Special Service WELLINGTON, January 26. The Wairoa Racing Club will open its week-end meeting on Saturday. Although there has been some rain, the track is expected to be firm and fast after a lengthy period of hot weather. There are a number of dual acceptances in the double, which is on the Wairoa Cup and the Te Kupenga Hack Handicap. King’s Gold is expected to run in the
second leg, and Kaha, Waireka, Amble, and Suvla Bay may be reserved for the cup. Selections:— 11.45 a.m.—Mahia High-weight: Sandy Patch, Maire, Son Rae. 12.25 p.m.—Frasertown Handicap: Lincoln Imp, Mention, Respect. 1.15 p.m.—Trial Plate, David Bridge, Paper Song, Charsell. 1.55 p.m.—Wairoa Cup: Finito, So Quiet, Kaha. 2.35 p.m.—Breeders’ Plate: Willing, Gold Zip, Banish. 3.20 p.m.—Te Kupenga Hack Handicap: King’s Gold, Hilili, Llantavia. 4 p.m.—Ormond Memorial Handicap: King, Rheingold, Cocoamyle. - 6 4.45 p.m.—Rauwa Hack Handicap: Jungle-Rag bracket, Dramatic, Dearwood.
