MARLBOROUGH MEETING

MAIN RACE WON BY HONEST CHARLES

ALDORA SUCCESSFUL IN SECOND LEG (New Zealand Press Association) BLENHEIM, January 26. Honest Charles led all the way and held off a strong challenge by Scottish Fair to win the Marlborough Trotting Club Handicap, the main race, and first leg of the double, at the club’s annual meeting at Waterlea Park today. Aldora won the W. T. Lowe Handicap after catching the pacemaker, Gold Light, in the last 50 yards and holding on to win by a neck.

The winning double combination. Honest Charles, coupled with Black Rose, and Aldora, paid £24 12s 6d for £l.

The totalisator handled £18.075, compared with £27,082 10s on the first day last year, which was a Saturday. Results:—
