KAIAPOI WINS ON POINTS

WELLINGTON BEATEN IN LAST RACE

(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, January 26. The crew—Melvyn Seiwood (skipperl and Murray Freeman—has won the Cornwell.,..Cup national junior yachting championship. -

Today, at .Macandrew Bay, Kaiapoi gained a third and a fourth in boats with Unimpressive. records, to win the trophy on points.

Wellington (Garry Wagstaff and Garry Hughes) gained its second success in the morning race, and to beat Kaiapoi for the trophy had to win the afternoon event to score its third success.

In one of the Canterbury boats, Melody. Wellington established a handy lead early in the event, but Nelson, in another good Canterbury boat, Mystic, passed it halfway round the course, and held on to win. Results of today’s and yesterday’s races were:— Fifth Race.—Wellington (G. Wagstaff,-G. Hughes), 58min 47sec, 1; Kaiapoi (M. Selwood, M. Freeman), 58min 51sec, 2; Nelson (B. McKenzie, G. Dobson). 59min 40sec, 3.

Sixth Race.—Hamilton (D. Beckett, L. Holland), Ihr 29min 17sec, 1; Tauranga (K. Woods, D. Mune), Ihr 31min 9sec, 2; Kaiapoi, Ihr 31min 40sec, 3.

Seventh Race.—Wellington (G. Wagstaff, G. Hughes), Ihr 38min lsec, 1; Auckland (J. Shelley, E. Mackay), Ihr 38min losec, 2; Kaiapoi (M. Seiwood. M. Freeman), Ihr 38min 28sec, 3.
