Britain Aids West German Navy
(Rec. 10.40 p.m.) LONDON. Jan. 25. German naval officers, petty officers, and technicians were soon to be trained in Britain, Sir Walter Monckton, Minister of Defence, told the House of Commons today. The Minister said that the Government was at present examining requests for British equipment and training facilities which might be provided to help in the build-up of the West German navy.
The naval correspondent of the “Daily Express” said that these requests by the Bonn Government were made after assurances that Britain would assist in rebuilding the new West German navy. German naval officers were likely to attend special courses in British naval staff colleges, the correspondent said.
