OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, January 24. The veather forecast, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 27 hours after the time of issue. Situation:— A ridge of high pressure covers southern New Zealand, but a weak cold front is expected to move on to the South Island. Forecast:— Canterbury and Marlborough.—Moderate to fresh north-easterlies on the east coast, with fair, warm weather; moderate north-westerlies elsewhere, with high temperatures, but a change to cooler south-westerlies is expected to spread as far north as Kaikoura during the afternoon and evening. Nelson and West Coast.—West to south-west winds, fresh at times, especially on the West Coast; some showers south of Hokitika; weather otherwise fair or fine and warm. Outlook for all Districts.—Mainly fair weather. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday Was fine and sunny, with a fresh northeast wind. The maximum temperature was 75.6 degrees. At midnight, the sky was cloudy, and a light northerly wind was blowing. The temperature was 60.5 degrees. The barometer was steady at 29.79 inches (1008.8 millibars).
