ROYAL TOUR OF NIGERIA
QUEEN AND DUKE TO LEAVE ON FRIDAY
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, January 23. The Queen returned to a rain-swept London today from her winter holiday in Norfolk to make final preparations for her Nigerian tour—only four days away. Prince Charles, aged seven, and Princess Anne, aged five, were with their mother and aunt, Princess Margaret, when the Royal train from Sandringham, the Queen’s country home, pulled into Kings Cross station. A small crowd waited in the pouring rain outside the station to greet the Royal passengers, who were surrounded by their six dogs. The Royal Family has been on holiday at Sandringham since Christmas. Last week the Queen Mother returned to London. Later today the Duke of Edinburgh was due to drive back to Buckingham Palace. The Queen and the Duke will leave for Nigeria by air on Friday for a three-weeks’ tour of the West African colony, Britain’s largest territory.
